spazioBACCA is a new meeting place dedicated to Biodiversity, Environment, Climate, Culture and Art.
It is a space for gathering and dialogue, open to people of all ages and cultural and social backgrounds, with particular attention to younger generations and more vulnerable groups. Its aim is to raise awareness and encourage shared responsibility around urban sustainability.
spazioBACCA is an inclusive and educational place created for the Milan community. It was established through the collaboration between Green City Italia and ECCO – the Italian climate think tank.
Here, citizens can come together to explore urban sustainability, social issues and culture through talks, workshops and artistic initiatives involving institutions, associations and organisations from across the city.
Green City Italia is an independent, non-profit and non-political association founded in 2010. It builds on and develops the objectives of similar organisations and foundations active across Europe, including in the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, France, Hungary and Switzerland.
Its mission is to promote awareness of the significant potential and value of urban green spaces in improving people’s wellbeing and supporting the sustainable transformation of cities. To achieve this, the association promotes research and develops projects aimed at improving urban quality, bringing together citizens and organisations interested in fostering an ecological culture in the planning, development and management of urban environments.
Green City Italia acts as a facilitator between public administrations, institutions, businesses, professionals, the scientific community and citizens. Its activities related to sustainability include cultural initiatives (conferences, workshops, exhibitions and events), editorial projects (publications, brochures and research studies), project development (best practices for urban green spaces and landscapes) and social initiatives focused on health, wellbeing and education.
ECCO – the Italian climate think tank is an independent non-profit foundation and third sector organisation established in 2021.
ECCO is not linked to private interests and is funded exclusively through philanthropic and public resources. It works in the public interest to accelerate climate action at national, European and global levels.
ECCO brings together a team of experts who develop and promote evidence-based analysis to support the design of policies, solutions and transformative strategies for the climate. It also works to shape new narratives and build broad consensus for climate action that is inclusive, effective and timely.
